Movi at the European Parliament: A Discussion on the Future of the Medical Device Regulation
On 23 June 2026, Movi took part in the Policy Talk “Quality and Innovation: Advancing Performance Standards for Medical Devices in Europe” at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event provided an important opportunity for dialogue between European institutions, regulatory experts, healthcare stakeholders and industry representatives, with the aim of exploring the future of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), the European regulation governing medical devices.
The event, also made possible through an unrestricted contribution from Movi, focused on the need to develop an increasingly clear, proportionate and sustainable regulatory framework capable of supporting technological innovation while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, performance and patient safety.
Representing Movi’s Biosystem Business Unit were Enrico Ceribelli, Director, and Laura Boccaccini, Marketing & Business Unit Development Director, who shared the company’s perspective on the future of medical device regulation. Among the key topics discussed was the need to facilitate faster access to technological innovation across Europe through the implementation of the MDR, while continuing to ensure the highest standards of device safety and reliability. Another central point of the discussion was the importance of harmonising access to innovation across European countries by reducing differences in the way the Regulation is implemented, which may affect the availability of technologies for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Movi’s participation in this important discussion reaffirms the company’s commitment to closely following the evolution of the European regulatory landscape and to contributing to the dialogue between institutions, industry and the healthcare system. A dialogue aimed at fostering a medical device ecosystem that combines innovation, quality and accessibility for the benefit of healthcare professionals and the patients who benefit from these technologies every day.
