During Diabetes Month, Movi Becomes #Bluemovi

In November 2021, to mark Diabetes Awareness Month, the Biosystem Business Unit of Movi Spa Group has implemented a series of activities to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes, which is still little known and often confused with type 2 diabetes.

“Given the importance of this anniversary, we decided to illuminate part of our headquarters in blue, the symbolic color of diabetes, and to project the blue circle that is the global icon of diabetes awareness,” explains Federica Radici, Brand & Communication Specialist at Movi Spa group. “To encourage greater visibility and reach as many people as possible, we also decided to design a social campaign on the Facebook profile @MoviDiabetes. It comprises five posts with five hashtags (also projected on the Movi tower) and five precise messages conveyed throughout the month.”

The first post unveiled the hashtag #bluemovi and explained why blue was chosen, namely to focus attention on the condition by dwelling on the characteristics of type 1 diabetes and the person’s living conditions.

The second post, on the other hand, told the story of insulin, the only life-saving drug currently available for people with type 1 diabetes. This time the hashtag used was #insulin100 because this year marks the centenary of its discovery by Canadian physiologist Frederick Grant Banting, along with Charles Herbert Best.

Marking November 14, Laura Boccaccini, Head of Marketing of the Biosystem Business Unit, explained the importance for Movi of celebrating World Diabetes Day: “For all of us at Movi, World Diabetes Day represents the celebration of a great discovery, the discovery of insulin, and the spread of awareness of this disease. Today, with the help of drugs, technology, and last but not least research, people with diabetes, year after year, can lead a better quality life.”

#Diabetescare, on the other hand, is the hashtag of the fourth post, used to tell the story of Movi’s mission: to support people with type 1 diabetes by providing them with cutting-edge solutions to manage the condition and improve their quality of life. On this topic, Federica Radici explains, “We carry out information and education activities on diabetes on a daily basis, even providing in-depth courses dedicated both to users of our technologies and to healthcare professionals. This allows us to explain to them how to use the technological solutions we provide. These are Movi e-Lab’s in-depth courses, which can be accessed at www.movi-elab.it.”

Today the blue lights on the facade of the Milan headquarters on Via Dione Cassio went out, but the Movi Spa group has not turned off the spotlight on the issue, continuing to disseminate useful information and support the #diabetescommunity on a daily basis, the hashtag of the fifth and final post.
