AHCL Systems: a technological innovation for Diabetes Management

Advanced Hybrid Closed Loop (AHCL) systems represent the latest technological advancement in the treatment of type 1 diabetes and consist of three elements: a control algorithm, a pump, and a CGM system. AHCL systems are able to deliver insulin automatically, by modulating the increasing and decreasing requirements based on the glycemic prediction gained through the CGM system. Therapy with AHCL systems improves glycemic variability, reduces the frequency of hypoglycemia, and greatly increases the time spent within the target range. It also helps lighten the burden associated with daily diabetes management, improving quality of life.
